The firest thing you need to do is to go out and buy some storage containers to place your food in. The next step is to get a bag sealer. This can be found at your local supermarket, K-Mart or WalMart stores. You need this device to seal your rice, cerial and any other items that need to be air tight to prevent bugs from mutating.
Remember you are storing away food for at least two years and you want to pack based on your family size. Cookware such as cast iron or black iron is needed to cook small meals.

QUESTION: Are you gathering your food stuffs? Lanakila has warned us about stocking up on food and water and other supplies. He now has two 6 months worth of food stored away. When storm Hanna came, we did not have to shop for extra food or be in the rush for bread and other items. We were prepared! Here is a list to get you all started. We’ve added to the list.
Pasta, Rice, Flour, dry cereal, canned beans and veggies, bags of soup, tuna (K Mart has the bag sealer that sucks the air out of bags to keep food fresh.
You can by the gallon size freezer bags too. The sealer costs $11.00 and it’s in the freezer bag section)
Candles, stick matches, first aid kit, batteries, weather radio, battery charger, lanterns with oil. For those of you who know how to make fruit preserves, buy your jars and start making your jams. Don’t forget bottled water or a good water purifier to have fresh water, vegetable seeds, soil and planting pots.
With respect to the water, you want to purchase "water Storage" containers. We just got some 7 gallon containers for $18. The 2 gallon drums which fold when not in use cost about $8.00.
